From Brutality to Melody: Dying Fetus and the Evolution of Metal show notes

Dude, what’s up? Dying fetus, what the actual you know what? Like? I’ll tell you what. Man, if I would have heard these guys, I’d probably stop listening to metal, like in 2000 or so. These guys would have saved my hope in metal if I would have listened to them back. Then I’ll tell you what listening to them now, holy shit, john Gallagher is an insane guitarist. Not only is he an insane guitarist, he can sing over the ridiculous guitar riffs that this guy writes and he has quite the finesse going from these crazy, insane, melodic, brutal, like death metal riffs to just like moshy, like slow, like chunky Dude. This guy is insane and ridiculous.

Like the last three albums, like for me are like my most favorite ones, and I don’t know if it’s because of the drummer, trey also, um, but like Reign, supreme, wrong, one to Fuck With, and, uh, of course I can, I can’t remember. Like the third one, uh, I’m gonna fuck with beg for death or something like that. I I’m terrible at titles, but those three, uh, and I also love the, the 2000 ep, um, grow tail and grotesque impalement, that album, the drummer on that is sick. Like, from my understanding, dying fetuses had, I think, well, definitely at least two drummers, but maybe three, but I don’t know about I, I’m not sure, but the drumming on the the 2000 ep is sick. Um, you know, I don’t know if I can’t believe anyone could say anything bad about this band. Like the musicianship is ridiculous, the drumming is insane. Like I said, I I wish I would have heard this band in 2000 because, like I said, that’s when I was like man disturbed, disturbed and like dude.

When Slipknot first came onto the scene, I was like I’m done, like that was, like it wasn’t the nail in the coffin, but that’s what really started pushing me over the edge. When I started seeing bands like that and like this you know, the new metal, metal I was just like no, no, no, and uh, life took me down a different path anyways, which is really funny because I’m I’m now learning why, why I went down the path I went to, and we’ll all discover that at some point in the future, won’t we, anyways? So, yeah, I was getting out of metal then and I could not stand Slipknot. I was like there’s what? Nine guys in the band? They wear masks.

I was like it’s basically, this is finally the heavy metal version of Kiss. Basically, although, although I will. No, you know what I can’t say? I like. I mean it’s heavy, but it’s like I can’t put my finger on it. I just don’t like it.

I’m sorry all you Slipknot fans, I’ll tell you what, though that new drummer, eloy Grasande or whatever, that dude is a disgusting drummer. Oh my goodness, like no kidding, he like dropped Sepultura’s tour to go play at Slipknot. Like that dude’s gonna make way more money playing with Slipknot than he probably was with Sepultura and uh, but yeah, like I, I just don’t like Slipknot and I’m not gonna say like they suck or this or that, it’s not, it’s notipknot. And I’m not going to say like they suck or this or that, it’s not that. You know why I’m not going to say they suck Just because I don’t jive with their music.

Like music is this universal language, like it surpasses, like you know, english, French, spanish, whatever German, like it surpasses that. It’s this universal language where, like, we don’t need to speak to one another because it speaks to us on this like other level, right, and with that being said, you’re not going to connect with everyone like on that level. So you’re not, you’re not going to hit those frequencies with everyone, but the people that you do hit those frequencies with, they’re going to love what you do, they’re going to pick up what you’re putting down and they’re going to go nuts for everything you do. So, like, that’s why I’m not going to say like, oh, slipknot sucks, because, like, of course I’m not. Like Hate Eternal, that’s like a surprisingly awesome band to me. I don’t hear anyone really talk about them, dude, I think they’re sick. So, like, if I think they’re awesome but, like no one else likes them or whatever, does that make me some kind of like poser or whatever? No, you know, it doesn’t. Because, like, I jive with whatever haiti turtles frequency they’re putting out. Like, so that’s why it’s like.

Up until like a few years ago. That’s when I finally decided, like I’m not gonna say like, oh, this musician sucks, or or that band suck, like because it’s not, it’s not them, honestly, it’s because you’re not, you’re not hitting their frequency. So, like, why do they suck? Because you don’t, you’re not hitting their frequency. You know what I’m saying. So, like you, let let other bands keep doing them. Let them keep doing what they’re doing, because other people like their music. You know what I’m saying. So, like Dying Fetus is sick. So like dying fetus is sick.

John gallagher, awesome guitar player, amazing trey. I love that drummer. Um, I’m telling I wish I could. I just like wrong one to fuck with reign supreme. Oh, make them beg for death. I think that’s the latest album. That is the sickest album. Oh, my god, that is fucking insane. So, yeah, you gotta check out dyingying Fetus. If you haven’t, like I said, they would have been my saving grace back in 2000,. I’ll tell you that. Um, so, yeah and uh, you know, let other bands be bands.

You don’t need to like, say they suck or whatever, or your people are posers. People are posers because they like other things. People are posers because they like other things. People are posers because, like, they don’t like what you like because you, because apparently whatever you say is gospel, I don’t know man. Anyways, thanks for listening.
