dude, new six feet under is out. How do you feel about it? I might have a surprising review I don’t know if I call it review, but opinion of this album. Um, let me uh preface it with um, my very first show and I, a few episodes ago or whatever, the very first show I ever went to was actually a six feet under show and alan west was still in the band he was touring with them. It was pretty sick and I have to say, the first, the first album, I think it’s haunted right, that’s a pretty sick album. Uh, I have to say I don’t think I actually heard anything past that. I think Warpath was like the next one, right, I’d have to go back and listen to that one.
Um, like I said before, I kind of got out of music in like 2000-ish or so and, um, I’ll probably have another episode on that. Um, but I got out of heavy metal in like 2000, and and uh, so I I lost track of all that stuff and and uh, so I, I lost track of all that stuff. But honestly, I was re, I was really not liking where metal was going, at least like the metal that I liked. Uh, I didn’t like where it was going at that point, so whatever. But so anyways, and obviously there’s this whole the whole Chris Barnes thing. You know, say what you will about the guy, but the first, like what? Four Cannibal Corpse albums that he was on were pretty brutal and he, he definitely, uh, is like the godfather of kind of death metal vocals. Now then there’s all these other Six Feet Under albums, and when I started getting back into metal I was like, oh, let me check out Six Feet Under and I was like, dude, what the hell happened? Like no, you know, we don’t need to go into it. But I’m giving all this context because you know, I understand where barnes has gone and I I’ve heard, you know, some of the albums and stuff.
So, with all that being said, this new album, uh, killing something for killing, for revenge, I think, is the name of it. I think this album’s. There’s some not good songs on this album, but there’s also some bangers. I think. And, uh, part of the reason, I think, is because jack owen is in the band and I think he brought a new, a little like a breath of fresh air maybe to the band or maybe he’s like, you know, the piece of the puzzle they’re missing because, look, I’ve been in bands, I know what it’s like and when you have like the perfect lineup or whatever, it’s awesome when everyone’s jiving together and you’re just able to write songs and so like, maybe that’s what’s going on here. I’m not sure because I there’s, that’s what’s going on here. I’m not sure because I there’s a lot of that going on, because I feel like Glenn Benton’s got his kind of ideal lineup right now. Honestly, I believe Dave Mustaine even though Kiko Calero, whatever, is not in jam with him, but that other guy is, I think he’s, he’s in his, he’s got his ideal lineup, he’s in his, he’s got his ideal lineup.
Um, but um, this album killing for revenge. It’s got bangers man, the opening song there. I know that was already released or whatever people have heard before, but that’s got jack owens like finger all over it. I I didn’t look at the, at the, the, the notes, to see like who wrote what songs or whatever, but I I’m assuming Jack Owen had a lot of influence in this album and if you haven’t listened to Six Feet Under in a long time, or if you have and you like all the albums or whatever, I think you’re going to like this album, in my opinion, a lot of those other Six Feet Under albums I don’t think I could have really said that I don’t know, I I’d have to go back and really listen to, but none of them jumped out at me.
A lot of them I was just like oh boy, like wow, what happened to chris barnes, you know? Like, again, nothing against the guy at all, but it’s just you know. Anyways, but this album I check it out. I’m not saying the singing is awesome, I’m just saying the music, overall, everything, everything’s much better. This is a much better Six Feet Under album. And dude, what the hell do I know? Anyways, I mean, I feel like Six Feet Under has got like 12,000 albums out, or something Like I’m kidding you know, but they must have, like I don’t know, 15 albums or something like I’m kidding you know, but they must have, like I don’t know, 15 albums or something like they’re obviously doing something right.
If metal blades, you still got them on the label, I mean, you’re not gonna keep a a loser on the, on the, on the, you know on the sheets, you know on the paperwork there, you know what I’m saying. Like barnes has got to be making the money. These albums got to be selling in order for them to keep dishing out money to chris barnes to make more albums. You know what I’m saying. So keep it up six feet under chris barnes. This is a good album, good to see jack owen in the band.
I feel like this is definitely an album you want to listen to. And, uh, maybe go back and check out some of the other 600. I’m not sure I know ola england played on one. I need to check that one out. I don’t think I listened to that one and uh, you know you guys are probably like, oh, listen to this poser, you know. But, dude, seriously, outside of music, I need to go back and listen. I’m just being honest. But I uh do. I love metal and uh, the more you stick around, the more listen, the more you’ll find out. So thank you for listening, thank you for downloading.
